Divination Methods – Cards

Today I will talk about Cards and Tarot Cards in Divination. Using a deck of normal playing cards for the purpose of Divination is called Cartomancy. Using a deck of actual Tarot Cards for the purpose of Divination is called Taromancy.

Each suit in the decks represent an element and has a meaning. For Tarot Cards the suits are classed as Major and Minor Arcana. The Minor Arcana include four sets of cards: the Page, Knight, King And Queen and number cards starting at the Ace. The four sets are then divided into Pentacles, Swords, Wands and Cups. The Major Arcana include cards such as Sun, Moon, Death, Temperance, etc.

For normal playing cards, the card suits mean the following: hearts means love, relationships, emotion. Diamonds are connecting to the financial areas of money. Clubs are associated with good positive situations that are coming your way and spades are associated with struggles that are coming up in life.

There are many ways to interpret the cards and many different cards for different divination situations. For example I have many tarot decks. I have a deck which connects me to the angelic realm, but I also have a deck that connects me to the magickal island of Avalon.

My suggestion is to use the deck or decks that work for you and read the book the comes with them. Then put the book away and when you pull a card, listen with your sixth sense to the card and see what the Spirit of that card tells you. The book is a great base for learning, but it is the Spirits that work through the cards that will give the correct reading.

Until next time, love and light,

Druid Jess
