Today’s Feminine energy is the Norse Goddess of the Underworld Hel. Hel is the Jotun/Frost Giant daughter of Loki and the Jotun Angrboda. Odin gave Her the Realm Helheim in Niflheim to preside over and give refuge to all the souls who died of illness or old age. She is a very generous Hostess to all those who enter Her Realm, however, do not cross Hel. She can and will lash out to those who disrespect Her generosity.
Hel is feared to some extent because of being a member of a disreputable family especially since Her siblings are the wolf Fenris and the world Serpent Jormundr. She can be indifferent unless moved to be otherwise. As with all Deities it is best to always treat Hel with respect and the honour She deserves. Especially since the ease of our afterlife does depend on Her generosity.
On Samhain, always give thanks to Hel for Her great generosity and helping to ease the transition from life to afterlife.
